Biography

Born and raised in Jackson, MI I spent some time after high school graduation traveling and living in California and Texas.  It was in Texas when I discovered my natural gift for crunching numbers and enjoying it!  From there I worked in various accounting positions over the next 30 years, gaining valuable insight and accounting experience as controller, assistant controller, VP of finance and corporate accountant. I have worked in various industries including real estate development, commercial property management, residential and commercial construction, public relations/marketing, manufacturing and non-profit.

Early on in my career, it was at one company that the CFO (my mentor) encouraged me to pursue a degree in accounting.  I enrolled at Jackson Community College while working full-time and successfully graduated with high honors as a member of Phi Beta Kapa with a degree in Associate of Applied Science – Finance/Accounting.

Spending my whole career in the secular world, getting hired at SAU has been such a blessing and a place where God knew I could finish out my career and “finish well”, as that was my prayer to Him after commuting almost 20 years to jobs in the Lansing, East Lansing, Holt, and Okemos areas.

My daughter Carly is a Project Development Manager at Consumers Energy and my two wonderfully, awesome grand-daughters, Kaylah and Aubrey, who attend Northwest Middle school bring me much joy.  Their crazy, loving, sometimes naughty golden-doodle Nico rounds out the family.

Why SAU

I work with great people and to share our faith with each other, pray openly and attend chapel is pretty amazing!  Even in the midst of challenges that come with working with different software platforms, 3rd party software and converging data, the work I perform at SAU brings me much contentment when I compare it to other places I have worked.

  • Jackson Free Methodist Church and volunteer in various capacities at the church and in the community, including a food pantry and the Ingham County jail via a ministry called Reach the Forgotten.
