Spiritual Life

Chapel at SAU

Chapel at Spring Arbor University is more than a gathering—it’s the heartbeat of our Christ-centered community. Held twice each week, Chapel is a time for students, faculty, and staff to pause, reflect, and worship together. From inspiring messages by our Chaplain and guest speakers to powerful moments of worship through music and prayer, Chapel invites everyone to grow deeper in their faith and be renewed in God’s presence. It’s a sacred space where hearts are transformed, relationships with Christ are strengthened, and the SAU community unites to live out its mission of thriving in a world of constant change.

Spiritual Life Groups & Events

At SAU, our spiritual life is centered around giving you opportunities to learn, grow, and live out your faith in unique ways that impact the world around you. This includes events for you to worship and pray, connect with others, and deepen your faith, as well as opportunities to serve others in a ministry setting. Here are some of our main groups and opportunities around campus.

Rooted Retreats

Rooted retreats are centered around Spring Arbor University's Grow Deep Roots. Each year we will look at different facets of what it means to be rooted in Christ. The focus for November 2025's retreat is "Rooted in Rest" at Michindoh Conference Center.

Spring Break Missions Trips

Dedicate your spring break to Kingdom work! Each year, SAU sends several spring break mission trip groups to locations across the country.

Opportunities to serve in 2026:

1. Seattle, WA - Homeless/Street Ministry
2. Memphis, Tennessee - children's ministries
3. Southern Florida - disaster relief
4. Spring Arbor and Jackson - working with local missions

SAU Serves

Every first Wednesday in October, classes pause as students, faculty, and staff step out together to serve in the Spring Arbor and Jackson communities. Living out our call to be the hands and feet of Christ.

What?!

Students, join us on the second Tuesday of each month at 9 p.m. for an open conversation with our chaplain and theology professors, where you can bring your questions, doubts, and faith challenges—and explore them together in a welcoming space.

Pastoral Counseling

Our pastoral counseling services provide a safe place to process life’s challenges and seek God’s guidance. Through pastoral counseling, mentoring, and discipleship, our ministry team walks alongside you offering prayer, encouragement, and spiritual direction as you grow in faith and navigate college life.
