Biography

I was born and raised in Blissfield, Michigan on a family cattle farm. I graduated from Spring Arbor College in 1984 with a Secondary Education degree; majoring in Physical Education with a Biology minor. I returned to Spring Arbor College in 1985 to be the Women’s Volleyball Coach for five year. In 1987 I became the Women’s Softball Coach and am currently still coaching the team. Our softball family has been very successful through the years with winning a NCCAA National Championship.  I have held numerous leadership position in the NAIA and NCCAA in my time of coaching. I was inducted to the SAU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002 and in 2010 awarded the LeRoy L. Lowell by the University. I have filled many rolls while being at SAU from working in the Registrar’s office to the Training Room. I taught COL 100 for 23 years and have been on and led Cross Cultural trips to Bulgaria, Dominican Republic, South Africa, Belize/Guatemala, American Samoa/Hawaii, and Russia.

Outside of the University I attend Westwind Community Church.

Education

MA: (Exercise Science) from Western Michigan University.

Why SAU

I graduated from SAC and have always loved the community and small town feel of the area. After I graduated I was back in my hometown for a year when I feel God called me back to Spring Arbor University to coach the Women’s Volleyball and Softball teams. At this point in time I am currently working with the softball team. It has allowed me to nurture young women in their faith walk as well as many other aspects of your lives. In the classroom it is also the same, challenging young men and women to think more broadly about the world God has placed us in. Helping to see the gifts they have been given to strive to use them for God’s Kingdom one person at a time.
