Biography

Dr. Karthik teaches primarily electrical engineering courses at Spring Arbor University. He is a passionate educator with over nine years of industry experience and enjoys mentoring students in entrepreneurial design projects that aim to create both social and economic impact.

After earning his Ph.D. from Michigan State University, Dr. Karthik led an engineering team at Avidhrt Inc., where he helped develop a handheld cardiac monitoring device capable of measuring vitals such as ECG and pulse oximetry. He is a co-inventor on two patent applications and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests include medical device development, computational electromagnetics, and intelligent solar tracking systems.

Originally from Sri Lanka, Dr. Karthik came to faith in Christ at the age of 16, during a time of civil unrest and displacement in his home country—an encounter that transformed his life. He has been married to his wife, Yeshoda, for ten years, and they have three daughters.

Dr. Karthik believes his calling is to innovate solutions that enhance people's quality of life and bring glory to God's kingdom. His favorite Bible verse is Matthew 6:33.

Why SAU

My career at Spring Arbor University has been my first experience working in a faith-based environment, and it has profoundly impacted my spiritual growth. One of the main reasons I was drawn to SAU was the opportunity to grow in my faith, be inspired by a vibrant Christian community, and deepen my relationship with God. After five years of teaching here, I’m confident that coming to SAU was the right decision, as it has become a meaningful part of my spiritual journey. I truly enjoy working with young minds and collaborating with students to solve engineering problems.
