Oral History Project

Help Us Tell Our Spring Arbor Story

Every member of the Spring Arbor community has a unique story to share, and we would love for you to hear yours during the SAU Oral History Project. In conjunction with our new Grow Deep Roots brand promise, we want to learn how our alumni grew deep roots during their time as a student. We want to hear your favorite memories, your transformational experiences, how faculty shaped your lives and so much more. And, we would love to get your updated contact information as well.

With our limited resources, we’d never be able to tackle a project like this on our own which is why we are partnering with a company called Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI). PCI has published several alumni directories for us in the past, and now they are helping us capture your stories. By partnering with PCI, we’re able to access their trained staff who are excited to listen to what you have to share. By sharing your memory, you’ll ensure that the rich history of Spring Arbor University will be preserved for generations to come.

In the coming weeks and months, you will be receiving emails, postcards, and phone calls from PCI asking to update your contact information and share your story.

Please note, we have only shared your contact information with PCI in conjunction with this project. We have NOT sold your contact information or otherwise used it for outside marketing purposes.

We hope you will consider partnering with us in this way!

What To Look For

Here is an example of an email and a postcard you will be receiving from our partner, PCI. Once you receive the postcard and/or email, please follow the instructions on the card to update your information with SAU and share your story.

Oral History project FAQs

We are partnering with a company called Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) to help update your contact information and most importantly, hear your Spring Arbor story. PCI has published several alumni directories for us in the past, and now they are helping us capture your stories. And, we would also love to get your updated contact information so we can stay better connected to you.

Yes, and here’s how:

  • Updated contact information allows us to better engage and communicate with your alumni.
  • Sharing your story allows us to preserve Spring Arbor’s rich heritage so future generations can know the value of an SAU education.

PCI is committed to protecting your information. The names, addresses, and information provided to PCI for the publication of the Oral History Project will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Oral History Project and except as required by court order or law.

No. This project is being done at NO COST to SAU. The project is completely funded by the alumni who choose to purchase the memory book that will be produced at the end of the project. Various book packages will be offered. PCI will also offer you the option to purchase other SAU branded merchandise such as a shirt, quart zip and duffle bag. You are welcome to purchase these items, but you are not required to do so to participate in the project or order the memory book. Again, we’d never be able to embark on a project like this without the support of our amazing alumni and the partnership with PCI. We sincerely thank everyone who participates in this project.

If you have received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Oral History Project. The representative will verify the information we have on file for you, make any updates where needed, and then ask you to share your story about your time at Spring Arbor University. Your story will be recorded, and the sound clip provided to SAU at the conclusion of the project.

When you call to update your contact information, it will only be used to update your alumni record for the school/alumni association.
