Student Employment Opportunities

In college, there are essentials for every student; whether it be financial opportunities, adequate housing, or anything else, these pieces can make or break a college experience. Employment can be a helpful feature to explore at Spring Arbor University.
In the Classroom
One of the major financial opportunities provided to college students is work they can do during their time at university, particularly on-campus, university-supported work. At Spring Arbor University, there’s a wide range of these jobs for students to get involved in. Many of the academic departments have TA (Teacher’s Aid) positions, as well as notetakers for students who might have an alternative learning style or cognitive barrier that requires assistance in the classroom. Often, academic departments, including Video/Film and many branches of the sciences department, offer lab tech roles. Students have the opportunity to learn the equipment well and help keep the labs running smoothly!
On Campus
Most departments for the school such as Advancement, Admissions, Student Development & Success, Marketing & Communications, etc have student roles that play a vital role in the production of the office! I’ve spent time working as a notetaker, and this school year, I’ve been on the student team in the Marketing & Communications office. The full-time staff have been so awesome to work with. It’s been a great opportunity to work events, and get to know the behind-the-scenes of so much work we see every day without realizing!
Barista
The other student job I have done all four years of my time at Spring Arbor is being a barista at Sacred Grounds. I’ve so enjoyed the community of getting to work with friends and have a job that’s for the most part, just a lot of fun. Caffeine can definitely be considered an essential for college students! Sacred Grounds is located in the library and is a great place to stop before a class or a long study session. There are coffee alternatives as well to account for different tastes. The other on-campus option for coffee is the Arbor Cafe, recently built in the lobby of the Arbor Church. And if you feel in the mood to get off campus for caffeine, there are so many choices throughout the Jackson area! Vito’s Espresso, Biggby, Jackson Coffee Co. to name a few provide great environments for socializing, studying, or grabbing to go. There’s so much to discover in and around Spring Arbor that could be great places for employment!
There are so many wonderful opportunities at Spring Arbor to work on campus! They are often very flexible with your school schedule, and they can help you gain experience and build your resume. I’d recommend taking a look at what student jobs SAU has to offer!
