Bring clarity and healing to a world in need.
Prepare to address human needs through the study and practical application of psychological concepts. Sharpen your critical thinking skills in a breadth of courses led by knowledgeable and caring professors who will help you identify your career goals and navigate the field after graduation. Your journey through the human psyche will be informed by a Christian perspective — and made tangible through internships and volunteer opportunities.
Key Courses
Students in the psychology major will demonstrate an understanding of the methods and applications of the discipline of psychology within a Christian worldview. The major will prepare students for graduate study or careers in service professions such as counseling centers, social work agencies, and psychiatric clinic settings.
What our students say about the Psychology program
“I have absolutely loved the psychology classes taken at SAU; even the more theory-based content is always so applicable to my passion of assisting people. Professors are knowledgeable and helpful even outside the classroom. There is an interesting mix of essential and elective courses which have focuses like childhood development. This has given me a good grasp of concepts like abnormal, cognitive, behavioural, and even positive psychology, as well as an avenue to incorporate faith when helping others overcoming behavior, breaking habits and having peace."
Braylon Van De Moortel, Class of 2026School of Social Sciences
The School of Social Sciences is dedicated to understanding human behavior, society, and systems. With disciplines spanning psychology, sociology, criminal justice, and more, the school equips students to address today’s most pressing social issues with wisdom, empathy, and a desire to serve.
