Broaden Students' Perspective in a Christ-like Way
Discover how cultures and civilizations thousands of years ago have shaped our world today. Through the study of history, geography, economics, politics, and sociology, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of society today and the various solutions there are to societal issues. Rooted in a Christ-centered approach, our Social Studies program at SAU will equip you with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and compassion needed to enact change for God’s kingdom.
The purpose of our Social Studies program is for you to gain a well-rounded outlook on life outside your one own area of study. You’ll learn from professors who have a deep commitment to justice and who care not just about expanding your worldview and perceptions of cultures, but also about your faith journey in that process. At SAU, you’ll be able to approach the study of human history and cultures with empathy, integrity, and with a faith-based perspective.
Key Courses
Students in the Social Studies major will examine the complexity of humans as individuals and as part of the social order. Students will articulate an understanding of the roots of society’s multidimensional problems and solutions.
What our students say about the Social Studies program
“The Social Studies program has truly changed my perspective on history and social studies. There’s something that I’ve been able to take away from each class I’ve taken, and it’s everything I’ve wanted in a learning environment, which is a small classroom size with professors who will push you and change your perspective on things.”
