Biography
I was born in Flint, Michigan, and raised in Baptist preacher's home in Ohio. I attended Cedarville University (College), where I competed in track and was involved in ministry teams. After graduation I worked at Dayton's in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a year and a half before moving to Akron, Ohio, where I worked as Accountant/Acting Buisness Manager at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy for three years and set up their accounting system. I then moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, where I worked as Business Manager at Timberlake Christian Schools for six years. After Timberlake I moved to Ankeny, Iowa, where I served as the Business Manager/Treasurer for Faith Baptist Bible College and Seminary for six years. I worked three short-term jobs before coming to SAU in April, 1992, as the Director of Purchasing and Facilities. Since coming to SAU I have served on the Western School Board for 12 years, taught Sunday School class for 30 years, served as church Treasurer, managed investments for 40 plus families, and done financial consulting. For the past 20 years I have owned and managed 13 rental units in Jackson. My wife, Jane, and I have been married for 49 years, have had 30 foster children, adopting three and have raised three home grown children for a total of six. Three of our children are SAU graduates, with one adding his MBA to his BS in accounting. We have 11 grandchildren, with our children living in Florida, Illinois, and four in Michigan.

Why SAU
I came to SAU as the Director of Purchasing and Facilities, and began teaching accounting on a part-time basis soon after that, switching to full-time faculty in the fall of 1998. I enjoy teaching accounting to students who need to understand how business works in real life. Also, as Christian leaders we can make a major difference to those we interact with in our careers.
