Biography
Raised and rooted in Phoenix, Arizona I have also lived on the Cape of Massachusetts, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and now, of course, the beautiful Michigan. As an Associate Professor of Social Work here at Spring Arbor University since 2014 I have taught numerous courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels including over ten three-week global learning courses/trips to such places as Cambodia, Morocco, Greece, Jamaica, and Chicago through our exceptional Cross Cultural studies program. My wife and I have three wonderful children we homeschool together, and we also own (and she amazingly runs) Flourish: Center for Cultivating Human Potential, which is in Spring Arbor and where we offer direct practice mental health counseling to hundreds of valued clients. My academic credentials include a PhD in Humanities from Faulkner University, as well as, a Master of Public Administration, Master of Social Work and a B.A. in Integrative Studies with a concentration in Philosophy and Counseling from Arizona State University.
My first book, Young Heroes: A Learner’s Guide to End Human Trafficking, was forwarded by Pulitzer Prize nominee Dr. Kevin Bales, endorsed by Dr. Cornel West, and was listed in Cathy Duffy’s Top 103 Picks for Homeschool Curriculum. I am also proud of the collection of four posters I created: The Human Elements, The Unity of Human Diversity, The Moral Universals, and the Human Experience Framework, all of which are included in the Human Experience Poster Collection. Reaching further back into my history, I also helped write formal assessments and reports for the Arizona Governor’s Office of Children, Youth, and Families.
I am also extremely excited about my next book, Not Hue Man: Replacing the False Humanity of Racism and the Redemption of Human Diversity, which is in process of publication.

Why SAU
My family and I moved to Michigan to be closer to family, raise our family, and start a business. Within a year of being here I started teaching as an Adjunct Instructor at Jackson College where I taught on campus as well as in a Michigan penitentiary and learned right away just how much I love to teach. Which is why I was then excited to start teaching in the Social Work department here at Spring Arbor University. Here, it is not only my goal to become an exceptional social worker, but also a wise, righteous, healthy, whole, and fully alive human person—one who understands the world for how it is and gives their whole self to making it what it is destined to be—a Kingdom of ever-deepening truth, righteousness, beauty, and fullness. Everything I have to help achieve this, I give. That is why it is such an honor and joy to work alongside my wonderful colleagues here at SAU.
