Faculty Profile

Saudia L. Twine, Ph.D., LPC, MFT, is a marriage and family therapist and professional counselor with a specialty in couples and family therapy. Dr. Twine helps couples connect to build solid, strong marriages. Dr. Twine has worked in a myriad of mental health settings to include individual therapy, mental health support services, day treatment in elementary and high schools, intensive in-home family therapy for at-risk youth, couple's premarital/marital therapy, and sex offender group therapy. In addition to clinical practice, she has been a field instructor/supervisor for the University of Michigan, School of Social Work. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor for the Master of Arts in Counseling Program at Spring Arbor University and as an instructor for the graduate Human Services program at Liberty University.
In addition, she has a private practice (NewBeginnings | FreshStart Counseling Group and runs a podcast (Eros Meets Agape) where she navigates the hard conversations about love, sex, marriage and relationships, providing psycho-education, tools, tips and resources to guide listeners towards healthy and loving relationships.

I believe God placed me at SAU. I was working at an agency and responded to an email to assist someone with their dissertation. The individual enjoyed our conversation so much that she said she was going to suggest my name to her department to hire on as an adjunct. I thought she was kidding. A couple of days later, I received a call to interview and was offered the position which I accepted. I later received a call to interview for a full-time position and the Lord told me to take it. Teaching in the MAC department is an awarding experience. I have the opportunity to sow seed into the lives of future counselors. I am grateful that God and SAU trusts me to do that.
