Spring Arbor University (SAU) is proud to announce a partnership with Grass Lake Community Schools as the first official participant in the university’s new Deep Roots Direct Admission Program. This innovative initiative is designed to create a seamless pathway for high school students to continue their education at SAU, strengthening connections between local schools and the university while helping students grow deep roots in faith, learning, and community. The schools made the partnership official at a signing ceremony on Monday, October 13 at Grass Lake High School.

Through the partnership, Grass Lake seniors who meet SAU’s admissions criteria will receive direct admission to the university, eliminating barriers and simplifying the college enrollment process. The Deep Roots Direct Admission Program also opens the door to personalized support, scholarship opportunities, and campus engagement designed to help students thrive from the moment they express interest in attending college.

We are always looking for ways to open new doors for our students’ futures, said Dr. Nick Angel, superintendent of Grass Lake Community Schools. Partnering with Spring Arbor University through the Deep Roots Direct Admission Program reflects our shared commitment to student success and community connection. This partnership not only simplifies the college admissions process and provides financial assistance to our graduates, but also reinforces our belief that every student should have the opportunity to pursue their goals with confidence and support close to home.”

Dr. Brent Ellis, president of Spring Arbor University, said, “The Deep Roots Direct Admission Program reflects our dedication to helping students grow into who God created and called them to be. By partnering directly with high schools like Grass Lake, we’re making it easier for students to take that next step with clarity, purpose, and support. Our goal is to walk alongside them, from the moment they start thinking about college, to ensure they are prepared to thrive academically, personally, and spiritually.”

The signing of this partnership marks the first of many planned collaborations as SAU continues to expand the Deep Roots Direct Admission initiative across Michigan.
