At Spring Arbor University, we celebrate every individual story – whether a first-generation college student, or a family with seven generations of Spring Arbor graduates – each person is an important part of our story, created by God, and celebrated by the entire SAU family. In this alumni profile, we are delighted to share the story of Bill, Lori (Ormston) ’80, and Evan ’17 Roberts.

Bill and Lori Roberts have a deep connection to Spring Arbor University (SAU), they passionately believe in the mission of SAU and know first-hand the benefits on an SAU education. Lori came to Spring Arbor in 1976 expecting to receive a Christ-centered education and build good relationships with professors and friends, but her experience was so much more. She developed deep and rich relationships during a key time of growth in her life, flourishing as a college student and Christ-follower. Currently serving on the university’s Board of Trustees, Lori ensures the same enriching experience continues for future students.

Bill majored in engineering at a different college, at a time when many Christian schools didn’t offer engineering programs. Following his engineering degree, Bill’s faith deepened during his seminary education, and he values the importance of a Christ-centered education.

Their youngest son, Evan, also a Spring Arbor graduate, developed lifelong friendships during his college experience. When his friends struggled financially to return to SAU each school year, Bill and Lori created an endowed scholarship to help students in need. Their commitment to SAU students, both now and in the future, is a testament to how the Roberts Family are honoring God as good stewards of the resources he has entrusted to their family.

As students at Spring Arbor, both Lori and Evan were impacted by SAU’s commitment to educating with Jesus Christ as the perspective for learning. Through their giving to the university, the Roberts family honors generations of the Ormston legacy, and expresses the importance of a Christ-centered education.

Guided by years of strategic planning, Ignite: The Campaign for Spring Arbor University is raising crucial funds for the modernization and expansion of the Whiteman Gibbs Science Center, building a stronger endowment, and providing support for students both now and in the future through the Arbor Fund.
