Spring Arbor University (SAU) is proud to announce it has been granted initial accreditation for its electrical and mechanical engineering programs by The Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Having ABET accreditation allows graduates from the program to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, which the first step toward earning a professional Engineering license in the State of Michigan.

“Full accreditation status from ABET for these programs is a significant accomplishment that represents years of work by many faculty, staff, and students,” said Dr. Jesse French, Dean of the School of Engineering. “From an external perspective, this is validation of the quality of technical instruction and facilities that are available to engineering students at SAU.”

“We are incredibly proud of this monumental achievement by our School of Engineering,” commented Dr. Brent Ellis, President of Spring Arbor University. “It is truly a testament to the rigor and quality of our engineering programs while keeping the focus of learning centered on Jesus Christ.”

The School of Engineering was established at SAU in 2018 with an electrical engineering program, with later introduction of mechanical engineering in 2021. All electrical and mechanical engineering graduates to date fall under the new ABET accreditation.
