Explore and encounter three different countries on this single trip. Together we will discover the wonders and beauties of Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Working in conjunction with Seth Van Tifflin (SAU Grad!) and the vast ministry the Lord has birthed and grown through Seth's efforts - In Better Hands, we will not only explore a variety of cultural aspects, we will see how the Lord is working in country as we visit several of In Better Hands ministry locations across the three countries.

Personal Growth

Visit several national parks and learn about ecosystems, flora, and fauna. Tour historic (and tragic) sites such as the Killing Fields, and begin to comprehend the troubled history of these areas. Explore various markets, bazaars, temples, and places of worship to learn about these wonderful cultures and their beautiful people. 

Government

Enjoy a River Cruise exploring the government structures and buildings in Bangkok. Visit with In Better Hands ministry sites and learn how they partner with local governments to provide for the poorest of the poor. While visiting the Killing Fields and S-21 learn how the government is working to ensure such things never happen again. Explore the capital cities of these countries to learn how their governments function in society, and how they interact with human trafficking and prostitution.

Economics

Visit multiple night markets, day bazaars, coffee shops, national parks, temples, and various other locales that directly impact the local economies. Observe how In Better Hands operates "ten-making" businesses that both contribute to the local economic growth and support the ministry.

Religion

Engage with several local houses of worship both Christian and other. Explore temples and shrines. Visit Buddha Mountain and Sanctuary of Truth. Partake in multiple walking tours through historical and religiously significant sites. Interact with locals and Buddhist monks.

Family

Visit local families in their homes. Witness how the ministry of In Better Hands provides a family for those without families - both widows and orphans. Engage in ministry while interacting with countless orphans and widows via vacation-bible-school-type work. Engage with Seth Van Tifflin's family which consists of 10 refugees from Myanmar.

  • Traverse the planet via elephant rides, bamboo rafts, and ox carts.

  • Consume local cuisine across three countries (and try your hand at chop sticks).

  • Worship and pray with your team regularly after long days of exploring.

  • Encounter God through the various cultures, wonders of nature, and the marvels of planet earth.

  • Laugh more than you thought possible in a two-week window.

  • Cry and be moved beyond expectation. 

  • Make life-long, lasting friendships.

Departure Dates

May 2027 experiences will begin sometime during the week following the projected May commencement date. Students should not make irreversible plans until their departure date is confirmed by the CCS office in February 2027.

CCS trips are not guaranteed and are subject to change.

Health and Safety

This experience, like all CCS experiences, is subject to political and safety realities at the time of departure. CCS options can be physically and emotionally intense and stretching. Passport and visa required at additional cost.

Trip Costs

Students are responsible for tuition for COR 374 and COR 375, a $200 nonrefundable application fee, in addition to the $3,200 travel cost for the 2027 CCS May Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia trips. 

A current passport is required. CCS trips are not guaranteed and are subject to change.
