England and Scotland May 2026

COR 375 with Professors Bowen and Strong

Our Cross Cultural experience features both the historical development and contemporary culture of England and Scotland. The trip is packed with activities. We will spend quality time in London as you learn to ride the "Tube" and do some exploring of the city independently. We stay near the London Theater District and usually take in a theater performance. We stroll through the major parks of London and arrive at Kensington Palace in time for "High Tea." You will visit the North Sea and have time for lunch on the beach. You will learn how to travel throughout England and Scotland by British rail as we ride across the country.

 $2,600 student cost*

*Cost with the CCS Subsidy. The $200 nonrefundable application fee is not included in this amount. The CCS Subsidy applies to 1st CCS program only.

Student Testimonial

“In addition to everything that I learned about the culture, history and society, I ended up learning a lot about myself. I never thought I would be able to buy a map of a city I had never been in before, and be able to independently find my way around without getting hopelessly lost. Firsthand experience of the British culture is something that will enrich my life as a person and as a writer.”

History

Experience the Tower of London, the British Parliament, Warwick Castle, Edinburgh Castle, palaces, and centuries-old religious buildings. Explore the ancient city of London, the world-famous British Museum, and the Treasures Room at the British Library with its Magna Carta and Gutenberg Bible. Religion

We will visit and worship in magnificent cathedrals and abbeys including Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral, the John Wesley Chapel, the London Oratory, the Kirk in Gourock, Scotland, and St. Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh. Students will be able to dialog with church leaders in the UK.

Education

Visit with an admissions officer about St. Andrew's University graduate school studies that are open to U.S. university graduates.

Family

Stay with a Scottish family on the stunning western seacoast of Scotland to experience UK home life. Students agree that the stay is a trip highlight! The families are warmly welcoming. There are different activites planned such as swimming in the heated saltwater pool right on the Atlantic shore, hikes in the nearby forest, "Kirk Services" at the Church of Scotland, and family gatherings. You will form lasting friendships and you will want to return one day to visit again!

Government

Take a private, guided tour of Parliament and meet with British politicians. Tour the Scottish Parliament with a private guide. Meet and dialogue with a leading Scottish politician who shares each year with our SAU students. The politician is a member of the Scottish Parliament and represents the Scottish National Party. He is also the official piper of the Parliament and pipes for the Royal Family. Learn about devolution in the UK and the forces behind Scottish independence.
