Modern Morocco is an initiation into the exotic magic of the Islamic, Arabic, African world - the world of medinas, minarets, deserts and mountains. We will attempt to understand the people of Morocco through observation and first-hand experiences with family life, religion, economics, education and government.

Education

Learn some Arabic and dialogue with Moroccan university students. Spend time in schools and with children at an after school English center. Understand literacy issues and educational practices.

Economics

Understand the role Morocco plays with its Mediterranean neighbors and global partners through meetings with organizations and national experts. Focus on the topic of human trafficing for forced labor and forced prositution.

Family

Spend a night at a Berber camp in the Sahara dessert, and experience the hospitality of this nomadic ethnic group. Learn about the day in the life of the Berber. Participate in cooking lessons and more immersion experiences of villiage life.

Government

Visit Rabat and enjoy a historical tour of Morocco's capital. Visit the U.S. embassy. Learn about women in Morocco and the challenges they are facing.

Religion

Visit Casablanca's Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. Explore Fes, Morocco's cultural and spiritual capital and discover more about Islam and Arabic culture. Cultivate wisdom about how to serve and do missions work in Arab culture.

  • Encounter the Sahara desert, the largest hot desert on earth.

  • Ride camels, and experience Bedouin hospitality and music under the Saharan stars.

  • Visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Visit Meknes and see its Medina and the remains of the Royal palace.

  • Worship with other believers at the International church in Fres.

  • Spend time on Morocco's countless beaches.

  • Travel through the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.

Trip Costs

Students are responsible for tuition for COR 374 and COR 375, a $200 nonrefundable application fee, in addition to the $2,600 travel cost for the 2026 CCS Morocco trip.

A current passport is required.

Health & Safety

This experience, like all CCS experiences, is subject to political and safety realities at the time of departure. CCS options can be physically and emotionally intense and stretching. Before enrolling, all participants should consult the disclosures on Physical Hardships of CCS.

Covid shots are not required as of December 2022 for Cambodia. For more details on required immunizations consult the immunizations chart.

Passport and immunizations required (both at additional cost); visa required.

Departure Dates

May 2026 experiences will begin sometime during the week following the projected May commencement date. Students should not make irreversible plans until their departure date is confirmed by the CSS office in February 2026.
